Nathaniel Street- Where are they now

Nathaniel is now an associate professor at the Umeå Plant Science Centre, Department of Plant Physiology, Umeå University, Sweden. His research projects include assembling the spruce and aspen genome, including efforts to improve genomics resources and genome annotation quality for both species, developing the PlantGenIE web resource, identifying genes controlling natural variation in complex traits such as leaf shape, secondary metabolites and biomass productivity in aspen in additional to metagenomics and metatranscriptomics studies of the microbiome associated with Norway spruce and Scots pine. He also works closely with forestry companies on projects understanding the influence of organic and inorganic nitrogen fertiliser use in seedling nurseries and their impact on seedling establishment and integration into the forest microbiome.
